Geocaching in the Portland Metro area has the distinction of being near the area where Dave Ulmer placed the world's very first geocache. While that cache is long gone, it's location is commemorated by the cache Un-Original, as well as a plaque set up by as a tribute by other cachers. Since that day, Geocaching has grown exponentially worldwide, and even here in Portland there are now hundreds of caches.
